YES, the DAT!!!! What a difference it made being able to put all the midi stuff direct to the mix via a decent board. I ended up with a Mackie 24/8. All my effects were midi by then as well. I remember having one song long track just for program changes so you could move the timing of it a little forward/back so the change would occur just at the right time. Boy all that midi programming was A LOT of work!!!!!!I forgot to mention that, indeed, I was mixing down to a Sony DAT recorder. As all the synthesizer stuff was sequenced from the Atari, mixing down to DAT earned the "Direct to Digital" moniker![]()
I just recently went through all my old DAT tapes and put what I wanted to keep on a hard drive, then sadly threw out the tapes and the machine. I hadn't used it in 30 years and well sometimes you just have to move on. I tried selling it but no one was interested.
