LANDR Fair Trade AI Program

LANDR is theoretically my distributor. If I ever finish my EP, it will go up to streaming services on LANDR. If you don't know them, they offer a lot of additional features for a membership, like plugins, samples, collaboration, courses, and AI Mastering.

They recently contacted me about their Fair Trade AI Program. It's an opt-in program where you offer your distributed songs to be used to train AI for the companies they license it to. At that point you get a "pro-rata share of 25% of the net revenue from each dataset your music is part of, based on how many of your recordings are in that dataset relative to everyone's." Right now they are offering $5 for every song you propose that "qualifies." But that's a limited time deal.

While you can opt out at any time, if you accept the $5, your music must stay opted in to the Fair Trade AI dataset until the advance is recouped or for a period of 24 months, whichever comes first. If you want to opt out before recouping, that requires repayment and those requests must go through our support team.

I'm not going to opt in, but I'll be curious to hear if anybody makes money from this. I suppose this is where it pays to have hundreds of songs.
