Thought I would share this fascinating article on this singer songwriter Nerina Pallot. I never knew they had an article on how she got started, and recovered from career downturns and how she promoted herself.
""I would send personal emails to 50 people before every gig, saying: 'Sorry for bothering you, but I noticed that one of your favourite artists is Tori Amos.' If we had similar taste in books, I'd comment on a certain book – things like that," says Pallot. "Then I'd tell them that I'd love for them to check out my gig, since my music was similar to their favourite artists." Out of the 50 people, maybe 10-15 would make it down to the gig, and slowly she started selling more CDs."
