A lot of people tell me that ableton is mostly for electronic i know that it can be what you want it to be and also Everyone is always pumping for ableton suite because it has loads of packs , but standard i just want to say has some great things in it now for songwriters , i was thinking i may need to add stuff but
it has grand piano a decent grand
orchestral strings ( ok strings )
guitar and bass

and wow mood reel i love this pack has some lovely sounds in it brass strings pianos textures beautiful beautiful pack
also some great drums
great synth stuff also
and some dance stuff i don’t care for

but as someone who makes acoustic guitar songs and then some downbeat stuff i think it has enough in it now to be good on its own , and if you want more can add the spitfire packs for £29 each ( i don’t need them but you might

so yeah my point standard is great for songwriters in my opinion

although suite has a lot more i don’t think it has too much more i need
standard has the packs i want and the effects
although there would be a couple i would maybe like but like i said the spitfire ones are really cheap but i won’t add nothing if i’m honest

and ableton intro doesn’t really have enough for me , missing an eq and without the mood reel , grand piano orchestral strings and guitar bass and drums it just wouldn’t cut the mustard for me .

but yes mini review i just bought standard and i’m very happy with it enough free stuff out there if you needed more and i guess you can also add stuff to intro

although i like to just have one program and no vsts to keep the install minimal

what do you think about ableton for songwriting ?

I love it and hate it at the same time: I have the standard version for almost 3 years now and while I love the workflow there are some things that were a tiny bit problematic:

- Latency compensaion doesn't alway work well enough for Audio (depending on tracksize and plugins)
- Using the scenes for writing and recording verses in them is not a great option if one starts on the upbeat.

But asside from that, Ableton is real fun to work with.
I've used it more for fast demo writings than the full production, since I've always ran into latency issues with some overdubs and backing vocals.

But if they are able to resolve these issues flawlessly it might become my main daw.
And if they include lyrics transcrition from audio like in Luna.
