so i have been making fun songs just taking
the piss out friends and stuff putting in my own lyrics and been making some fun little songs , but i am
amazed that there is a community of people who think that there genarated suno songs now makes them songwriters and producers like wow i would never think that putting in some lyrics and a few prompts would make someone feel like
that , are they deluded or is this the future

i don’t think it will be i think a guy that has musician skills will use these tools to make far better compositions than the people just clicking “ create , and hoping for the best , i see one guy put his music he made with suno on vinyl and he has it for sale at £33 ( that is more than a stone roses or oasis album

i don’t get it

There was a day when the title of "music producer" signaled that you had a very unique and desirable set of skills. It meant you dedicated yourself to learning and honing a specific craft. As an independent producer, you had no choice to be dedicated to it because it required you to buy, own, and operate some rather expensive studio equipment, not to mention learn how to play many instruments or hire musicians to create the music.

Then came beat/loop libraries and construction kits. Then came AI. Today, a person can be a "music producer" with nothing but a laptop and AI. No major investment needed. No musicians needed. No skill or experience needed.

Suno AI pitches their service as "...building a future where anyone can make great music." I love the idea of making music creation more approachable and affordable (which is what DAWs and virtual instruments have so wonderfully done) but not if it means literally bypassing the creative process. Then you're not a music producer. You're a programmer.

My stance is to let today's bedroom producers do what they want, and I'll just keep doing things my way. My way is to write lyrics with a pen and paper and compose music from scratch with 88 black & white keys. The fact that my music is 100% organically inspired means everything to me, and that's what makes me proud to carry the title of "music producer." I earned it.

I know a guy who makes a living as a composer and has been keeping an eye on this. He thinks the recent Suno update which is getting DAWier is interesting, and way ahead of the music generators that are starting to get included in DAWs.

In the 20th century business found a way to make money off of recorded music. So they did what most businesses do and ran it into the ground trying to squeeze out ever more profit. Prior to this most music was made in the home as a hobby and as a way to entertain each other. Now with DAW technology, anyone can create music at home. So, it's come full circle and music is mostly a hobby you do at home again. It was a pretty good run, but the world has moved on to other things. Once Taylor starts having babies the business will collapse.
