Sonarworks SoundID VoiceAI - First attempt!

Those singers are pros, for sure, but if you've got a good ear, decent tone, and some tuning software, you can do great BVs in the studio, too! I often find myself filling in BVs for artists with whom I work... it is fun finding parts and crafting a sweet BV blend with one's voice. And let me...

Sonarworks SoundID VoiceAI - First attempt!

Singing a lead vocal may be the ultimate form of musical expression but one's soul risks torture. Background vocals are safer.

Thanks for that... it lead to this: Nice!

Sonarworks SoundID VoiceAI - First attempt!

Definitely interesting. The fact that VoiceAI models the voice that it is processing keeps it closer to "we are actually creating something" vs writing AI prompts.

Sonarworks SoundID VoiceAI - First attempt!

I just can't see releasing a track using it as the featured vocalist... regardless of how good it may sound. Feels like walking too close to the edge, at least in this point in my experience and personal moral code. Not to mention the excellent singers I regularly work with wanting to crush my...

Sonarworks SoundID VoiceAI - First attempt!

I bought it (paid $99; should have waited a couple of days - duh) and played with it just a bit yesterday. Definitely not lead vocal material IMO, but the aforementioned use in choir creation sill seems valid.

I see it as a good way to get background vocals to sound bigger. I don't think. I'll be using it for leads, unless that's what a client demands over my discouragement.

Growing older... it happens to the best of us

I've written a lot of poetry over the years; like most here, I'm sure, I love writing both music and words. Following a trip to the Sierras with my (then) young family and my parents, I was inspired to pen a story/poem about a hike we took up the McGee Creek Trail. I'm happy I was able to share...

Growing older... it happens to the best of us

Very cool tune, nicely done @Nekujak ! Those of us who are getting further along the path of life's journey and are looking at AI and where it is taking the creative arts might feel, as I do, that we've dodged the AI bullet. My clients still want to work with me, a living person, and will...

Sonarworks SoundID VoiceAI - First attempt!

This is much more interesting to me than the "prompt" approach to AI music creation... definite uses within a human-created production. Gonna' nave to try it!

How much raw humanity does your music need?

Of course. My impression was we were focusing more on recording tech (as opposed to the instruments we use to make noise) in this thread. The invention of the 12-tone chromatic scale had a pretty big impact on western music, too. ;) Replace the word "process" (which can be interrupted in a...

How much raw humanity does your music need?

Although I love and use today's music tech (generative AI excepted, at least to this point in time), there is definitely a "Loop until we Droop" mentality that has permeated the pop mainstream. Yes, creativity is still involved, and great stuff is being produced in countless styles. I don't...

Down That Long Road (was "Raven") - Song in Progress

Same here. Always bugged by the bandmate who feels noodling behind the lead vocal (as opposed to hitting spaces between vocal phrases) is a good thing.

Do some lyrics just sound good separately from their meaning?

It is not about conforming. It is about actually finishing and releasing the work! :)

Do some lyrics just sound good separately from their meaning?

Inspiration starts the flow, but diligence gets us to the finish line.

Do some lyrics just sound good separately from their meaning?

Words must have their EMphasis placed on the PROper SYLLable withIN the song to sound right.

    The Forgotten Ones

I tried that, in a manner of speaking... my studio burned down in a wildfire in 2003. Oh. That's not what you meant. I see. Like you, I'm left with lots of lyrics, but the old recordings are all gone.
